December 1, 1954.
Our first female writer appears - Yvonne, who is British (I believe) and lives in Islington, London (I have blacked out the exact address to protect her privacy.) Clearly, Dick and Yvonne have been corresponding for quite some time at this point but this is the first letter of hers that we have. Basically, I think my friend Sophia summed it up best when she said "damn, Yvonne was kind of desperate." What do the kids call it these days? Thirsty?
Also, for this letter I have included the front of the envelope, though I will not always do that. But I think the fact that Dick is serving with an Engineer Detachment supports the theory that he was there to support the rebuilding effort after World War II, but if anyone knows more about what an Engineer Detachment does (or would have done in 1954), feel free to tell me in the comments!
